Washington County 4-H welcomes youth and families of all backgrounds and interests. 4-H is much more than livestock and agriculture. Members can explore a wide variety of projects including photography, robotics, cooking, art, leadership, community service, and many more. No previous experience is required, and you do not need to own an animal or live on a farm to participate. 2026-2027 4-H Parent & Member Handbook rev 8-2026 [2026-2027…8-2026.pdf | PDF]
Enrollment for the Washington County 4-H program opens each September through 4HOnline. Families interested in joining are encouraged to enroll as early as possible so they can participate in club meetings, projects, county activities, and special events throughout the year.
How to Enroll in WAshington County 4-H
- Choose a local 4-H club that best fits your family’s interests, schedule, and location. Every member belongs to a community club where they can build friendships, develop leadership skills, and participate in fun activities and community service.
- Enroll through 4HOnline, the official Wisconsin 4-H enrollment system. During enrollment, you will select your club, choose project areas, update family contact information, and complete required forms and permissions. Enrollment is completed annually.
- Select 1-2 projects to begin with. New members are encouraged to start with just one or two projects that match their interests, schedule, and goals. Youth in Kindergarten through 2nd grade participate in the Cloverbud program.
- Attend club meetings regularly. Meetings are the best way to meet other members, learn about upcoming opportunities, and become involved in club activities. Parents and guardians are encouraged to participate alongside their children.
What Can 4-H Members Expect?
Members can participate in projects related to science, photography, agriculture, healthy living, leadership, civic engagement, and many other areas. Throughout the year, youth have opportunities to attend workshops, camps, countywide events, community service projects, and the Washington County Fair. 4-H helps members build confidence, responsibility, communication skills, leadership abilities, and lifelong friendships.
