Kirchhayn Trotters 4-H Club

Since 1953, our 4-H club tradition has been passed on from one generation to the next.

Club Membership

A club member must be at least 5 years of age as of December 31st of the enrollment year, or in Kindergarten and may remain a member in the club one 4-H year following graduation from high school.  Members aged 5-8 (or Kindergarten through 2nd grade) are considered Cloverbuds.

Dues are $10.00 per member or $25.00 for a family of 3 or more members, payable on the evening of enrollment for the new 4-H year (October meeting).  Dues pay for insurance, county and state programming, and some club activities.

In addition to dues, membership is based on the following:

  1. Each member should be present for at least 50% club meetings. If a member is unable to attend a meeting due to a valid excuse (such as sickness or an important school or family event), they will be allowed excused. The member must contact the general leader up to the day following the meeting to be excused.
  2. Exceptions to meeting attendance may be made for extenuating circumstances such as a member going away to college or an extended illness.  Such exceptions are at the discretion of the General Leader, and participation in other club activities will be suggested.
  3. All members must actively participate in general club activities by contributing on at least one club committee. The chairperson of any committee must provide a list of active members to the Vice-President for documentation.
  4. All members must participate on at least one fundraising activity.
  5. All members must participate on at least one community service activity.
  6. All members must give one talk/demonstration per year at a club or project meeting.  This can be given at club or project meeting or by participating in the project fair at the July meeting.
  7. Members must exhibit at the Washington County Fair. Legitimate reasons for not exhibiting at the fair should be directed to the General Leader so that alternate accommodations may be made.
  8. Record books must be submitted by August 15th of the current 4-H year, unless arrangements have been made with the General Leader. Any record book that misses the deadline, will not be eligible for club or county project awards.
  9. Members must follow the 4-H Code of Conduct and Behavior Agreements.
  10. The General Leader at any time can override any of these rules based on individual circumstances, as long as there is approval from the current officer board.

If a member meets the membership rules stated above the member will:

  • Receive the club year completion pin/award
  • Be eligible to receive club funding and county funding from volunteering at food stand
  • Be reimbursed the cost of the Washington County Fair entrance wristbands/tickets
